Question: Should I use a discount code or a promotion?
The customer has to type a code for it to apply → discount code (good for ads, influencer-specific codes, service recovery). It applies automatically when conditions are met, with nothing to type → promotion (good for store-wide offers like free shipping over a threshold, or 40% off the second item). Both can exist at once; at checkout they stack or the better one wins, depending on the priority you set.
Question: What's the difference between points and store credit?
Points are loyalty rewards, usually earned at a ratio (spend 100, earn 1 point) and used as a discount. Store credit is an actual currency balance — it can be topped up directly, or granted for completing an action (50 for writing a review, say). You can run both at once; they're calculated separately at checkout.
